P4P is the acronym of pay-for-performance, a payment for a predetermined performance target. It is often used as a synonym for PBF, PBI, and RBF and associated with healthcare delivery.
PBA is the acronym of performance-based agreement, a synonym of performance-based contracting.
PBC is the acronym of performance-based contracting: legal or formal agreement governing procurement of services. There are three forms of performance-based contracting: contracting in, contracting out, and management contracting.
PBF is the acronym of performance-based financing: cash or non-monetary benefit provided against measurable actions or achievement. Often synonymous with RBF and PBI.
PBG is the acronym of performance-based granting. This scheme provides support for a recipient’s program. Within USAID-funded activities, PBG is distinguished from performance-based contracting (PBC) which refers to contracting and procurement.
