Excipients

Excipients are the inactive ingredients in the finished pharmaceutical product (FPP) that do not have any pharmacological or therapeutic activity. Examples of excipients include fillers, coating agents, dyes, preservations, flavouring and colouring agents and so on. Lactose is a commonly used filler (also known as bulking agent) in tablets to give mass and/or volume to the substance, thereby facilitating the production process.
